Alvin and the Chipmunks Ships Nationwide Today
Grammy Award-winning Alvin and the Chipmunks
rock their way into the world of video games just in time for the holiday season
Brash Entertainment announced today that the
Alvin and the Chipmunks video game shipped to North American retailers, marking
the #1 kids musical act of all time’s interactive debut. Timed to ship just 10
days before the theatrical release of the exciting new live action film, Alvin
and the Chipmunks, from Twentieth Century Fox, the video game focuses on the
Chipmunks musical abilities through rhythm based game play.
In the video game players follow Alvin, Simon, &
Theodore on their latest mission to play during the battle of the bands event “Rockathonapalooza”.
As the Chipmunks perform in each of the video game’s musical levels—from school
proms to burning man to forest arenas to the ultimate, Rockathonapalooza –
players are challenged to keep in rhythm with the music. The combination of fun
game play, a cool soundtrack and everyone’s favorite Chipmunks, creates another
way for the fans of Alvin, new and old, to enjoy and expand on their movie
experience.
The Alvin and the Chipmunks video game features
the Grammy award-winning ‘The Chipmunk Song (Christmas Don’t Be Late)’. Alvin’s
ditty about wanting a hula hoop (which was THE hot new toy at the time) was
released as part of a novelty record in the fall of 1958. The record went on to
sell more than 4 million copies in seven weeks and spent four weeks at No. 1 on
the Billboard Hot 100 Chart. Later earning three Grammy Awards and a nomination
for Record of the Year, the song has become part of our pop culture appearing in
various film and television hits, including Saturday Night Live, Friends, The
Sopranos, Almost Famous, King of Queens, Nip/Tuck, Boston Legal, Ally McBeal and
Ugly.
In addition to the Chipmunk Song, the game
features 40 popular hits and cult favorites that parents and kids alike can play
along to. These songs include chart-topping songs originally written by artists
such as RUN-DMC, Boy George and Blink 182. Alvin and the Chipmunks is available
for the PLAYSTATION 2, the Wii and Nintendo DS, and PC. The game has been rated
