Dungeon-Designing RPG Master of
the Monster Lair for Nintendo DS in Stores Now

"If you build it, they will come
(the monsters, that is)"

Master of the Monster Lair, the only
game for Nintendo DS that lets you design the dungeons of your dreams, customize
them with a variety of furniture and features, and then clean them free of
freeloading monsters, is now available in stores across North America. In honor
of the game’s release, we’ve put together a few tips for success in the
dungeon-designing, monster-fighting world of Master of the Monster Lair.

The Secret to Mastering Lairs
Try digging your dungeon with the following tips in mind:

Tip 1: If there are no rooms, you
can’t get weapons or armor
If your dungeon consists entirely of hallways, only wild animals will come in.
To obtain weapons and armor, you must place rooms to invite equipment-wearing
monsters for you to defeat.

Tip 2: Try to fight three monsters
at one time
Depending on the placement of your rooms, sometimes you will fight multiple
monsters at once. If you fight multiple monsters at once, the chance of an item
being dropped will increase.

Tip 3: The last enemy you defeat
will drop the item
The monster you defeat last will be the one who drops the item. Different
monsters drop different items, so depending on the item you want to get, you
should plan accordingly. If you want to get food, you should defeat the beasts
and animals last.

Fire Bombs and similar items will
damage all enemies, starting from the left. As a result, the enemy on the right
will be the enemy that tends to be defeated last, so take this into
consideration when building rooms.

Build three rooms around one hall
space. When you move here, you will fight three enemies. The enemy in this room
will be the enemy on the right, and therefore, this enemy might drop an item.
Humanoids tend to leave weapons and armor, and animals tend to leave food.

Tip 4: Bring in wild animals with
turns and forks
Design your dungeon to be complicated in shape. If you build it with lots of
turns and forks, more wild animals will come in and roam your hallways.

Tip 5: If you find a new type of
food, learn how to prepare it
When you find a new food item, you can often learn how to prepare it from the
people in town. The Magic Shopkeeper is especially knowledgeable about food and
can often teach you new recipes.
