Monolith Soft on Upcoming Wii U Title

It was previously revealed that Xenoblade developer Monolith Soft had plans for creating an original title for the Wii U. No one has any idea what this game could be, but once again, it's interesting seeing so many developers with a keen interest in Nintendo's next platform. In a recent interview translated by Andriasang, Monolith Soft addressed the Wii U and their upcoming game, touching on the console's technical specs and tablet controller.

Though the Monolith team has yet to work with an HD console, they were quick to point out that they're eager to take advantage of the Wii U's power. They can also do things that they haven't been able to do before, such as experiment with different shaders and physics. To me, it sounds like the fine folks at Monolith are having a blast playing with some new development tools.

Additionally, like a handful of developers and publishers have also expressed, Monolith is excited to take advantage of the Wii U's controller. For one, the developer would like to have different images on the TV and Wii U controller screen at the same time. This is especially intriguing, and it could make for some very compelling puzzle-solving mechanics.

Unfortunately, Monolith didn't reveal anything about their new game. Here's hoping we learn more about this endeavor within the coming months. In the meantime, how about we get Xenoblade in North America?
