Nintendo Reveals Details About the Dreaded 3DS Analog Nub

It’s no secret that Nintendo will be releasing an analog nub add-on for the 3DS sometime in the future. Up until now, though, all we really had to go by were screenshots of the ridiculous peripheral. It seems that the Big N has finally decided to comment on the accessory, and you know what? It’s just as lame as we all thought it would be.

According to Nintendo’s hardware page, the Slide Pad (as it is being referred to by Nintendo) will be landing in Japan on December 10 for 1,500 yen (about 20 bucks). As previously reported, the peripheral’s launch will coincide with the release of Monster Hunter 3G. In addition to Monster Hunter 3G, Andriasang reports that analog nub compatible titles will include Resident Evil: Revelations, Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater 3D, Ace Combat 3D Cross Rumble, Dynasty Warriors VS, and Kingdom Hearts 3D.

The wacky Slide Pad will require one AAA battery to function, which is expected but pretty lame all the same. But don’t worry, because Nintendo will throw in the first AAA battery for free along with the Slide Pad (sarcasm)! Titles that require use of the peripheral will sport a logo on their cases, so you’ll know when to whip out the nub.

When word broke out about this horrific analog nonsense, I realized I’d wait for a 3DS revision. I’m really not willing to buy a handheld that wasn’t complete in the first place, drop 20 clams for an add-on that should have already been on the device, and then wait for good games to launch on it. Who else is also going to wait for the 3DSi, 3DS Lite, or whatever the hell they’re going to call it?
