Join the Elite Tetris Fan Club for $29.99

Remember when Tetris was a fun, casual game played by all?  That doesn't appear to be the case anymore.

EA has managed to turn the game we all loved into a hardcore "elite" club that offers additional features on iOS devices for those willing to pay.

According to MCV, EA's previous Tetrist game has been removed from the Apple App Store and replaced with the new 69p game.  It allows users to sign up for a premium subscription called the "Elite Tetris Fan Club" for either $2.99 a month or $29.99 for the year.

Pretty pricey for a mobile game if you ask me.  But in return you get access to exclusive content, discounts on DLC, and faster in-game leveling.  What kind of DLC could EA possibly offer for Tetris?  New shapes?

The new game has a new "Marathon One Touch Mode" and a "Tetris Log" which offers a steady stream of new challenges and a Tetris profile that can be shared amongst devices.

Is the new Tetris app worth $29.99 a year or is EA taking the whole DLC idea to an extremely weird level?
