Nintendo to Fix Notorious Zelda: Skyward Sword Glitch

Many gamers were obviously upset to discover a game-breaking glitch in The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword, where performing some quests in a specific order and then speaking to a certain NPC would actually prevent the player from progressing further in the game. Though Nintendo provided a guideline on how to avoid the glitch, this was little help to gamers who had already been locked out of the rest of the game, forced to restart if they wished to go any further.

Thankfully, Nintendo has apparently found a fix, and will be adding the Zelda Data Resoration Channel to the Wii shop. The details of what the fix does have not been made entirely clear, though we're hoping it will either trigger the event needed to continue, or set players back to a point where they can proceed normally. We'd also hope it prevents the glitch from occuring again, but knowing that Nintendo has very little experience with offering software updates or patches, we'll be interested to see how well this fix is implemented.

As many have pointed out, both the PS3 and 360 are able to automatically patch games without requiring an awkward download. Nintendo had apparently assumed their games would never need such a fix, but it seems even the Big N makes mistakes.
