Punch-Out!! coming to the Nintendo 3DS eShop

I can still barely believe that the Nintendo 3DS has been out for more than a year, yet the eShop is still barren. Oh sure, there's plenty of original Gameboy classics available for download, but I can count the number of archaic 8-bit portable games I'd pay five bucks for on one hand (Zelda, Zelda, Zelda, Metroid and… Survival Kids?).

Point is, Nintendo has a giant backstock of awesome games, and they've already proven that NES and GBA emulation is working on the 3DS. So where are the good games at?!

Thankfully, Nintendo has decided to stop wasting our time with needless 3D remakes of NES classics, having today announced that boxing classic Punch-Out!! will be coming to the 3DS eShop in Japan. Although no Western release has been announced, this is a good sign that NES games will soon be trickling onto the download service.

American gamers might remember Punch-Out!! as the game featuring a psychopathic rapist as the final boss. By law, this makes Mike Tyson an official Nintendo character. Look for him in Mario Party 9!
