Check out these new Toki Tori 2 screens

Last month we found out that developer Two Tribes was cooking up a sequel to its hit puzzler Toki Tori. When the studio made the announcement, the Wii U was mentioned as a possible platform. Nintendo's upcoming console was chosen due to its tablet controller, which can receive data from the Wii U and allow gamers to play using the device's screen. Additionally, Two Tribes expressed its interest in the potential of having a level editor right at your fingertips.

The company decided on the Wii U after the success of the first Toki Tori on WiiWare, which was actually a launch title for the digital platform. Of course, the puzzle platformer also saw great success on the PC through Steam, so it should come as no surprise that Two Tribes also has plans to release the game through Valve's digital download platform.

Further news has surfaced from the fine people who brought us Toki Tori all those years ago. According to Joystiq, Two Tribes will be launching Toki Tori 2 on Steam later this year. It will then follow that up with subsequent versions on the Wii U and iOS platforms.

The first Toki Tori was a charming and challenging puzzle game, and it really delivered a fun time for players. Here's hoping we get some more details and specific launch info straight from Two Tribes in the not-so-distant future. In the meantime, check out these snazzy new screenshots of Toki Tori 2.
