NewsRunic Games wants Torchlight 2 to follow Diablo III
Runic Games, developer of the upcoming Torchlight 2, previously dismissed concerns about Blizzard's confirmed release date for Diablo III. Now CEO Max Schaefer is adding that the company wants the sequel to arrive shortly afterward.
Diablo III lands on PC and Mac on May 15, and at best Torchlight 2 should follow one month later, said Schaefer. Runic Games wants to use the additional time to polish their action RPG so it doesn't become the "cheap" option because of its projected $20 price, compared with Diablo III's $60 tag.
"Our total development time on this game is going to be about two years, which is not unreasonably long for this type of game," said Schaefer. "It'll be worth the wait, it'll totally be worth the wait. In the long run, people will be happy we took this extra time."
