Prototype 2 released today for Xbox 360 and PS3

"It's f***ing go time!"  Prototype 2 officially releases today for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

The highly anticipated sequel to Radical Entertainment's best-selling open-world title from 2009 is set 14-months after the events in the original game.  It follows new protagonist, Sgt. James Heller, as he sets out to exact revenge on the man he holds responsible for the loss of his loved ones, Alex Mercer.  In the game, players will become the ultimate shape-shifting weapon as they gear up for the epic showdown.

“April 24th has been a long time coming and we wouldn’t have been able to do it without the support of our unbelievably loyal fans,” said  Radical Entertainment studio head Ken Rosman. “All of us here at Radical are extremely proud of what we’ve created with Prototype 2 and we hope you all get as much enjoyment from playing it as we had making it…I’ll see you on the RADNET leaderboards – Gamertag/PSN username: SuperSangria.”

For those of you who have already pre-ordered Prototype 2 or are planning to purchase the game during launch, you will gain access to RADNET Edition content via a one-time-use code that will allow for 55 pieces of additional content for free, delivered over the course of seven weeks post launch.  This will include in-game Events, Challenges, Avatar Items, Dynamic Themes, and bonus Mutations for Prototype 2's main story.  And for those of you completionists who participate in all of RADNET's weekly Challenges and Events will unlock the highly coveted Alex Mercer playable skin.

Our very own Robert Workman said in his review of the game: "Prototype 2 is everything you could expect from a sequel, really.  While there are certain elements that once again hunker back to the old days of Ultimate Destruction, Radical Entertainment has stepped up with a piece of sheer rollicking, do-whatever-you-want entertainment."
