Happy ‘Star Wars Day’: May the 4th be with you!

Today is May 4th, or better known as Star Wars Day.  Despite the first film originally releasing on May 25, 1977, fans have adopted today as the date to celebrate the Star Wars culture and honor the films.

Fans of hit franchise have coined the phrase "May the fourth be with you", playing off the franchise's signature phrase "May the Force be with you".

Considered a holiday by many, May 4th is a day to look back and reflect on these great films (well, at least the original three).

So what can you do on this glorious day?  How about inviting over fellow Star Wars fans and watching all six films in order of story (or once again, just stick to the original trilogy).  Or how about reenacting the famous lightsaber duel between Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader?

Star Wars has had an impact on culture's across the globe, even the universe I'm sure.  34 years after the theatrical release of the first film, we now have books, television series, and video games all dedicated to Star Wars.  The point is, there are few movies in the history of film that have had such a lasting impact on society and culture.

So raise your glass to Luke and Vader.  Have we ever seen a father/son relationship as twisted and epic as this one? I mean, he cut his hand off. Raise your glass to Han and Leia.  Have we ever seen a love story as great as theirs? "I love you." "I know." Raise your glass to R2-D2 and C3PO.  Have we ever seen a friendship as strong as theirs?

Happy Star Wars Day, everybody!

I could go on for hours, quoting my favorite lines from the films.  What are some of yours?
