E3 2012: FIFA 13 and Madden NFL 13 get Xbox Kinect voice command

Microsoft's E3 press briefing took place this morning and as expected there was some mention of Kinect.  However, it's not what I thought it would be.  Instead of shoving more Xbox 360 Kinect shovelware down our throats, Microsoft actually showed off how the Kinect will make our games more fluid – particularly with sports video games.

Presented by EA during the conference, it was revealed that Madden NFL 13 and FIFA 13 are about to "get better with Kinect".

How so? You know those annoying substitutions you'd have to do in FIFA 13? Say goodbye to pausing the game, or pushing a button to call a play.  Now, FIFA 13 is more fluid than ever by taking your voice commands for substitutions and play calling meaning you won't miss a step on ball control. You can react to situations immediately now with Kinect.

FIFA 13 isn't the only game getting better with Kinect. Madden NFL 13 will also get voice recognition. Now you can act like your favorite playcaller at the line and literally call out the audibles to change the play.  No more pushing annoying buttons to change the play.  While it's pretty useless when others are in the room, it is a great feature in singleplayer or online.  Is it the greatest addition ever?  Probably not, but it's another way to make the gameplay smoother.

In the E3 preview, Joe Montana changed the play at the line making audibles and flipping runs.  He also directed his offensive line on which way to block.  The result?  A touchdown and a pretty neat feature for gamers to look forward to with Madden NFL 13.

I have to say, I was pretty impressed with the Kinect features.  It wasn't anything cheesy like simulating passing a ball, or kicking it into the goal.  They are legit features that will make the gameplay experience more fluid, realistic, and simple.  Pretty good additions to this year's edition of FIFA 13 and Madden NFL 13
