Madden NFL 13: Top 10 Quarterbacks revealed

Yesterday, EA began the painstakingly long process of revealing player overalls for Madden NFL 13.

The reveal, which will span over a four-week course, has an added twist that lets players vote on which NFL players "epitomize attributes like speed, elusiveness, hit power, and more". While the player with the most votes will be the highest-rated player for that attribute at their position, the entire player overalls have already been decided on by rating czar Donny Moore.

And EA is ready to share them starting with quarterbacks. This week EA chose to reveal quarterbacks. Below are the top 10 highest rated QBs in Madden NFL 13. Voting on the individual QB attributes – speed, throwing power, throwing accuracy, and awareness – has already begun on the Madden NFL 13 Facebook page and this Friday the overalls of every QB in the game will be officially unveiled.

For now, we'll just have to settle with the top 10.

  1. Aaron Rodgers (Green Bay Packers) – 99 overall
  2. Tom Brady (New England Patriots) – 98 overall
  3. Drew Brees (New Orleans Saints) – 98 overall
  4. Eli Manning (New York Giants) – 97 overall
  5. Ben Roethlisberger (Pittsburgh Steelers) – 95 overall
  6. Peyton Manning (Denver Broncos) – 93 overall
  7. Philip Rivers (San Diego Chargers) – 92 overall
  8. Matthew Stafford (Detroid Lions) – 91 overall
  9. Tony Romo (Dallas Cowboys) – 90 overall
  10. Michael Vick (Philadelphia Eagles) – 89 overall

Looking at the list compared with the stats of last season, I can't help but feel my boy Tony Romo got shafted. For someone with the fourth highest QB rating, over 4,000 yards, and 31 touchdowns to only 10 interceptions, I think he'd be rated a little higher than someone like Rivers who threw 20 interceptions (3rd most in the league). Then again, Romo always shoulders the blame for the underachieving Dallas Cowboys.

Some other surprises, for me, include Peyton Manning. While I agree with his 93 overall, it's just weird not seeing him in the top three.

As for my arch enemy, Eli Manning, I think he finally earned that 97 overall. As much as I hate to say it, with the type of post season he had (9 touchdowns, 103.3 QB rating, and a Super Bowl win), he belongs in the elite crowd.

Brady, Brees, and Rodgers, of course, all belong in the top three. Similarly, they were each the top performing QBs in the NFL last season. Although, I do have to say Tim Tebow belongs there with them – just because of this.

Aside from a few QBs who I think are being judged on performances they had in the past and will likely never repeat, I think EA did a fairly decent job with the top 10 QBs. Now it's up to fans to vote on those four key attributes. Head over to the Madden NFL 13 Facebook page to cast your vote and let us know below if you agree with the top 10 Quarterbacks in Madden NFL 13.
