Sony wouldn’t mind pairing up the PS3 and Vita in a bundle

Would it be a smart move to pair up the PlayStation 3 and Vita and put them in one giant Sony hardware bundle? PlayStation UK Managing Director Fergal Gara isn't 100 percent certain, but he says the company's definitely not ruling out that possibility.

"We'd have nothing against that whatsoever," Gara told CVG. "And it's not out of the question that we would do that this Christmas if we wanted to. We put together packages for retail, and there's no reason why we shouldn't create a 'Vita plus PS3' bundle, which could feature games that use cross-play, as well as include a PlayStation Plus subscription that both devices could use."

That's mighty specific for a company that's not sure if it'll create a bundle with the PlayStation 3 and Vita. It's obvious that Sony has given this some thought, and really, I suppose it makes sense for an audience that's looking to get both of Sony's current machines.

The question now is: Do enough people want or need both a PlayStation 3 and Vita? Even if they do, there's always that chance that most people will own either device. Still, I could see some young gamers being totally stoked during the holiday season if they receive both a PlayStation 3 and Vita this Christmas.

Unless their parents get them a Wii for some reason …
