Activison’s The Walking Dead title officially named

It’s been one heck of a year for zombie fanatics, or more specifically The Walking Dead fans. Not only did AMC’s TV show wrap up an excellent second season back in March, they’ve unleashed a brand new hell in the third season’s short stint thus far. To add to that, TellTale’s The Walking Dead downloadable action/adventure game has been receiving massive praise for its continuing brilliance, as it nears the fifth and finale episode. Oh, and did we mention that Activison announced a FPS spin-of back in July? So yeah, you could call 2012 a year to remember for The Walking Dead.

Today, though, Activison’s little project has received an official name that’ll be branded for months to come, up until the game’s release sometime in 2013: The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct.

The game is set to play closely to the AMC hit show in that, as Activsion and developer Terminal Reality explain it: “ [the] game puts players in the role of the mysterious, crossbow-wielding survivor Daryl Dixon, alongside his overbearing brother Merle, on a haunting, unforgiving quest across the Georgia countryside to reach the supposed safety of Atlanta.”

Aside from that description, we don’t know too much about Survival Instinct just yet, but we’re excited to have a zombie title that centers around the game’s characters instead of focusing only on the zombies themselves (a la Left 4 Dead). We expect to hear more about Instinct in the months to come, and you can bet GameZone will be bringing you all the details as they become available.
