Matthew Vaughn won’t direct ‘X-Men: Days of Future Past’; eyeing Bryan Singer

Deadline has reported that Matthew Vaughn has decided to not direct the sequel to X-Men First Class. The sequel, X-Men: Days of Future Past, already has a script and has a lot of hype around it. Apparently, Vaughn will be doing another movie for Fox. Days of Future Past already has a script, and the cast of First Class is all set to return, including Fassbender, McAvoy and Jennifer Lawrence.

It's not sure why he's backed out of directing, but he did the same thing with First Class before he changed his mind, and he also turned down the sequel to Kick-Ass. So maybe there's a chance he will change his mind again. However, it's definitely intersting when Bryan Singer is coming up as the leading candidate to replace Vaughn.

Byan Singer launched the X-Men movie franchise with directing the first two X-Men films — you know, the good ones. He bowed out in X-Men: The Last Stand, and the difference in quality is very noticeable. Singer did have his hand in the success of First Class, though. He helped write it and produced it. The thought is, if Singer gets the job directing, he'll switch roles with Vaughn, who would then produce the film.

It'll be interesting to see how this all plays out and if Singer returns to helm another X-Men film.
