Ubisoft: Splinter Cell: Blacklist has gone gold, set to launch August 20

“We’ve gone GOLD baby!” says Ubisoft.

In other words, Splinter Cell: Blacklist has been completed and is now off to inspection and manufacturing before hitting store shelves on August 20 for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PC and WiiU.

“We couldn’t be more proud of our team," senior producer Alex Parizeau told IGN. "This is a huge accomplishment for Ubisoft Toronto and for the studios that collaborated with us on this ambitious project – Ubisoft Montreal, Ubisoft Shanghai, Ubisoft Bucharest and Ubisoft Pune. Splinter Cell Blacklist is the first project to go gold in our studio, and I can tell you the atmosphere here is electric."

Ubisoft’s action-stealth game was announced last year during Microsoft’s E3 press briefing. The Toronto-based studio knew it wanted to create the biggest and best Splinter Cell yet, so a collective group of devs were brought in – folks who had played a vital role in franchises like Assassin’s Creed, past Splinter Cell installments and other Ubisoft projects.

"We brought together an amazing team from across the industry who went all in to deliver the biggest game in the series," proclaimed Parizeau. "I know I speak on behalf of the entire team when I say we can’t wait to get the game into the hands of our fans.”

As many are aware, Splinter Cell: Blacklist was originally scheduled for a spring 2013 launch, but was delayed to give the team ample time to deliver what they feel is the best product possible.
