The petition to bring Grand Theft Auto 5 to PC is currently hovering around 600,000 supporters, but despite gamers' best efforts to make Rockstar aware of demand for a PC version of the blockbuster hit, no official announcement has been made. Growing fear that 2013's biggest title won't make its way to PC was tempered a bit by Intel's Chris R. Silva who told PC Gamer that he doesn't believe GTA 5 will remain a console exclusive "very long."

"At least with Grand Theft Auto I don’t think it’ll be console exclusive very long," he said. "But that’s what happens when you have a brand new launch with two companies that have lots of money trying to make sure they have content.”

Silva reckons the reason we haven't yet heard about a PC version is because "somebody paid a lot of money to make sure that title was exclusive." Whether or not that belief is true remains to be seen, but there's no doubt Rockstar would be crazy not to cash in on the demand for a PC version.

“The PC gaming ecosystem just continues to grow,” said Silva. “If you look at the amount of revenue that is generated by PC gaming it’s in the tens of billions of dollars each year. It’s incredibly diverse and rich and that’s it’s greatest strength," he reasoned.

Rockstar currently has its hands full with the current Xbox 360 and PS3 versions -- fixing all those bugs with GTA Online -- so it's understandable why the developer may not have gotten around to announcing the PC version yet. You don't want to upset all those console gamers by making them think you're ignoring their problems after all.

It's worth noting that Grand Theft Auto 4 was released in April 2008 and it wasn't until August 2008 that a PC version was even announced. So let's just give Rockstar some time to sort out the issues with the current-gen versions before we hound them about PC and possibly even next-gen versions.
