Microsoft narrows list of CEO candidates in search to replace Ballmer

What's turning out to be more lengthy than choosing a fellowship to carry the ring and throw it into the fire of Mordor to save Middle-Earth, Microsoft has narrowed down the list of candidates to replace CEO Steve Ballmer. According to Reuters, the shortlist of names includes Ford CEO Alan Mulally, former Nokia CEO Stephen Elop, Microsoft cloud head Satya Nadella, and former Skype president Tony Bates.

Even with the list being shortened, the process will not be over soon; it could still take a few more months before a new CEO is chosen.

Of course, everyone is declining comment. That's how these things go. But considering that Steve Ballmer announced his plans to retire in 12 months in August, it's probably better to decide on a CEO sooner rather than later.
