The just-released PC version of Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance currently only works online — but that may not be intentional.
Steam's product listing makes no mention of an online requirement, so either it's a bug, or Konami snuck in always-online DRM for the PC port. Many Steam users are giving the hack-n-slash negative reviews as a result.
J.P. Kellams, the creative producer for developer Platinum Games, has "no idea" why players are being forced to stay online. He's looking into the situation.
