No mention of PlanetSide 2 PS4 in SOE’s developer roadmap

Update:

SOE has responded to our question regarding the lack of PlanetSide 2 mention in the game's development roadmap. You can read their response here.

Original:

In posting the updated PlanetSide 2 development roadmap, developer Sony Online Entertainment made note of a lot of cool and exciting features coming to the online shooter. Outfit recruiting, a new continent (Hossin), continent locking, and outfit base capture are all new features planned for release sometime down the line.

But you know what was missing from the roadmap? Any sort of mention of PlanetSide 2 for PlayStation 4. Nothing. Nada. Zip.

We last heard PlanetSide 2 would launch on PS4 in "early 2014." There's still a few more months for what I would consider "early" but it's still somewhat alarming that there was no mention of it — not even the slightest update. It's possible that the roadmap was simply centered on the PC version and that SOE didn't want to confuse anyone, but I think we all would've even appreciated a nugger just to remind us that they haven't forgotten about it.

Or maybe it's possible SOE really doesn't have a release date in mind. Addressing speculation that PlanetSide 2 would be released on PS4 in the "March/April" window, SOE President John Smedley responded: "We aren't ready to talk dates yet."

We've followed up with SOE in hopes of learning more about the lack of PlanetSide 2 PS4 information and we'll be sure to update you when we hear back.
