Book of Unwritten Tales 2 closes in on Kickstarter goal on first day

The Book of Unwritten Tales is definitely getting a sequel, but German developer King Art is asking fans for extra money to add even more features to the adventure game — and they've been happy to oblige.

The Kickstarter for The Book of Unwritten Tales 2, a follow-up to the original The Lord of the Rings-inspired point-and-click adventure from 2009, has completed 77 percent of its crowdfunding goal (and counting) on its first day. King Art is looking for $65,000 total but has set a number of stretch goals in place to encourage additional pledges from backers.

King Art is well on its way to completing development on the niche title, and it already has funding through publisher Nordic Games. But budget constraints make it difficult to add other features like side quests, outfits, and more animations and camera angles.

The developer plans to release the game chapter by chapter in the fall through Steam Early Access. The official release is set for 2015. The whole adventure will last about 20 hours.
