New Star Wars card battling game out today

Star Wars: Assault Team, a new Star Wars-themed card battling game, has officially been released by Disney Interactive and is now available for iOS, Android and Windows Devices. In the game, which was revealed back in January, you collect and assemble a team of heroes to battle against enemies and other players across the Star Wars universe.

"Infiltrate enemy fleets and outsmart your opponents in exciting, face-to-face combat," the description reads. "Embark on epic missions to escape from enemy ships, find the Wookiee resistance, survive ambushes on the streets of Mos Espa, and much more! Fight for ultimate control of the galaxy in this strategic combat game, where every move counts!"

I think the best part about this game is that it includes only "classic" Star Wars characters from the original trilogy, meaning no Jar Jar Binks. It's also free, so that helps.

Below are some of the noteworthy features players can expect in Star Wars: Assault Team:

  • Build and Customize a Team: Collect hundreds of character cards to create the ultimate team using such heroes as Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, Boba Fett, and more.
  • Advance Heroes: Train, improve and strategically deploy each character’s special attacks, making a team even more dominant against ever-powerful enemies.
  • Player vs. Player Combat: Fight against other players in PvP battles to win extra rewards.
  • Original Story: Complete all-new missions set between Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope and Star Wars: Episode V The Empire Strikes Back.
