Ubisoft to continue making PS3 and Xbox 360 games for upcoming years

In a world that is all about ‘next gen this’ and ‘next gen that,’ it’s good to know that some companies still have the backs of those who didn’t jump on the progressive bandwagon. These are the developers who have decided to not only still support ‘old gen’ consoles, but to also continue making versions of their newer titles for both old gen and new gen. Ubisoft is one of these companies.

Much like how Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag was released on PS3, Xbox 360, PS4, Xbox One, and PC, Watch Dogs will be taking a similar approach come May 27th. While this may be old news to you, the vice president of Ubisoft, Lionel Raynaud, fully plans on making the next Assassin’s Creed game on the Xbox 360 and PS3 as well as next gen consoles. He told Edge Online:

“We will have games for PS3 and 360 for this year and probably the years after. We want to be able to provide games to people who are playing on these consoles. Black Flag was the first Assassin’s Creed game of this new generation but it was designed with that in mind, but I wouldn’t say it was a cross-generation game, as it has features that could only be for this generation.”

So there you have it. If you’re a diehard AC player who hasn’t made the commitment to get a next gen console, you are in luck. You’ll be able to play your new favorite game right when they come out on the console you already own. Since a new Assassin’s Creed is released every year, that a whole bunch of new games for you.
