Activision has officially unveiled the newest installment in its highly popular Skylanders franchise. It's called Skylanders Trap Team and will arrive on October 5 in North America.
Reversing the magic of bringing toys to life, Skylanders Trap Team will let players "pull characters out of the digital world and into the physical world." Included in the game is the new Traptanium Portal, a new ring of magical energy that lets players not only bring Skylanders toys to life in game, but also capture villains that they defeat. Once defeated, simply place the Trap into the new portal to capture them, and you'll be able to hear the villains inside the Traps.
The new feature will also give players the option to switch between playing as a Skylander hero or a villain at any time. Traps can even be taken to a friend's house and used for co-op adventure across all console versions.
As for the actual plot of Skylanders Trap Team, it involves Kaos ongoing quest to rule over Skylands. Having discovered the location of the Cloudcracker Prison — a fortress built entirely out of the magical substance Traptanium and home to Skylands' worst villains. Kaos, in an attempt to build his own army of foes, blows up the prison and releases the most wanted villains. In blowing up the prison, shards of Traptanium have also fallen to Earth, helping form Traps. It's now up to you Portal Masters to recapture all of the escaped villains using Traptanium Traps.

"With Skylanders Trap Team, we're no longer just letting kids bring their toys to life inside the game anymore. This time, we're letting them pull their toys out of the game as well. We are confident this installment of Skylanders will once again redefine what's possible at the intersection of the physical and virtual worlds."
Skylanders Trap Team will be available for Xbox One, PS4, Xbox 360, PS3, Wii U, Wii, and 3DS on October 5 in North America.
