Twitter finally suspends account for DDoS group Lizard Squad

Posted by: Matt Liebl

The next time Lizard Squad attacks a video game company, they won't be able to publicly boast about it on Twitter.

It took long enough, but the social media website finally suspended Lizard Squad's account. The group had been using the social media platform as a way to boast about their distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attacks on several video game companies, including Sony (PlayStation Network), Sony Online Entertainment, Riot Games (League of Legends), (Hearthstone), and video game streaming website Often times they'd warn of a DDoS attack and then ask Twitter followers to perform actions such as writing "Lizard Squad" on their forehead and posting a picture of it.

Unfortunately, the account being suspended also means we'll no longer be given a heads up should the group decide to attack again. If there was one good thing about them having a Twitter, it's that it made it easier to track which games were being DDoSed. Who knows, maybe without a platform to stand on the group will stop with their shenanigans.
