Chivalry: Medieval Warfare coming to Xbox 360 and PS3

I've never played Chivalry. I've seen it; my friends are obsessed with it; but I've never played it. Maybe that'll change as Activision announced today a partnership with Torn Banner Studios that will bring the fast-paced medieval FPS, Chivalry: Medieval Warfare, to consoles for the first time.

Coming to Xbox 360 and PS3 (we've asked about next-gen), Chivalry will be available for digital download later this year. Like the previously released PC versionChivalry will offer console players some fast-paced multiplayer action, replacing traditional guns and grenades with battle axes and swords.

"Chivalry: Medieval Warfare combines a sharp melee edge and familiar competitive gameplay along with the genuine look and feel of open-field combat in the Middle Ages," the description reads. "Players can choose between one of four classes – Knight, Vanguard, Man-at-Arms and Archer – each balanced to offer a unique set of strengths and vulnerabilities in any given situation. An extensive armory of more than sixty period-authentic weapons, including swords, shields, daggers, maces, axes, javelins, longbows and crossbows, delivers deadly choices for decimating foes."

Chivalry will be released for digitally for Xbox 360 and PS3 later this year.
