It looks like group Lizard Squad is planning their next attack on video games this weekend, if a recent tweet by the notorious hacker/DDoS group is to be believed.
"We're predicting a lot of mad gamers this weekend," Lizard Squad teased yesterday.
For those unfamiliar with Lizard Squad, the mysterious group has been a pain in gamers' butts for the past month-or-so, launching repeated distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attacks on various developers and their games including Sony's PlayStation Network, League of Legends, Twitch.tv. They also DDoS attacked Sony Online Entertainment, even go so far as reporting a fake bomb threat on a plane carrying SOE president John Smedley. The group had been quiet for a few days before popping back up last week, taking down parts of Call of Duty: Ghosts and Destiny.
At this point, it's unclear exactly what games Lizard Squad is targeting this weekend, but we'll continue to monitor the situation and report any outages as a result of their actions. Unfortunately, sometimes that also results in us getting DDoS'd as well.
