Google's 11th annual Zeitgeist list has been released, revealing the most popular and fastest search terms.
We reported earlier that Battlefield 3 claimed the #5 spot for fastest rising search term for 2011 – the only video game to make the list.
As for the actual top games searched list, we had to do a little investigating. According to Zeitgeist, in the United States, "Black Ops" was the most searched gaming term for 2011.
Given the November release of Modern Warfare 3, it's not really that surprising to see Black Ops was the most popular term. Up until November, it was the hottest game.
And in case you were wondering, the number 2 searched gaming term was also owned by Activision and related to the first search. The search term "Call of Duty" was the 2nd most searched query in the gaming section. This could be attributed to both Black Ops and Modern Warfare 3.
Following that was Halo Reach, Super Mario, and Mortal Kombat, rounding out the top five most searched gaming terms in the United States.
The entire top 10 list includes:
- Black Ops
- Call of Duty
- Halo Reach
- Super Mario
- Mortal Kombat
- Skyrim
- Battlefield 3
- Dragon Age 2
- Diablo 3
- Mass Effect 3
Overall, not a bad list to be on.
