Blizzard reveals new Overwatch Map – JunkerTown

But who is the Junker Queen?

As part of their GameCom stream today, Blizzard revealed the newest map for Overwatch and surprise, it's not Chateau Guillard as was rumored, but instead, Junkertown. The new map is based around Junkrat and Roadhog, as it locale is Australia and features all sorts of broken down robots and parts. The debut trailer is narrated by a female voice, calling herself "the queen." We're not sure if this is a tease for a new character down the road, but the sight of her "throne" and the fact she's narrating the video, and not Junkrat, says something.

The new map is set up to be a payload delivery map and looks to have a lot of hiding spots and areas for a character to surprise their opponents and for fans of Widowmaker and Reaper, places to snipe and corridors to roam.

Check out the debut video:

Blizzard also treated us to a funny intro video featuring RoadHog and Junkrat, showing the two misfits being tossed out of Junkertown and their witty plan to get back at the queen, ie. explaining why the payload map exists, or more specifically, the reason for the delivery method. Blizzard did something similar when Nubani's payload map was used to explain how Doomfist's glove was being transported to the museum. Though, why that map still exists, is beyond me, now with Doomfist back.

Blizzard still has more up its sleeve, like its newest animated short, set to debut on the 23 this week, plus more for Heroes of the Storm, Hearthstone and World of Warcraft.

The new map is playable for those at GamesCom and is rumored to be on the PTR as early as tomorrow. As for the Chateau Guillard map, that map will likely join the debut of the DeathMatch and Team Deathmatch modes upon their reveal.
