We've seen fighting games based on RPG franchises before. Final Fantasy has done it, and it did it pretty damn well. Now, though, the .hack series is going to do it, and there's certainly plenty of potential there.
Some screenshots of .hack//Versus popped up on Famitsu, and the game looks pretty sweet. I've never actually played a .hack RPG, but the upcoming fighter looks really cool.
Details on .hack//Versus are scarce at the moment. All we know so far is that the game will be on the .hack//Sekai no Mukou ni Blu-Ray disc. Also, it'll probably never come to North America. (Here's hoping it does, though.)
Check out the screenshots of the game below. Also, there are totally going to be two different editions, a basic version and "The World" edition, which comes with cool stuff like an art book, DVD, and more.
