Star Wars has a rich history of games, movies, books, comics, and more. Hundreds, if not thousands, of stories have been told ever since George Lucas introduced that universe to us in 1977. Although Star Wars is known as sci-fi, it has expanded into many different genres throughout all these years. Some games and books have given us a look at the dark horrors that lie within that universe, and it looks like there was almost one game that would've taken it a step further.
Concept artist Carlos Huante took to his Instagram to show us some art of two Star Wars titles that never saw the light of day. The results are… interesting. They certainly showcase a much different Star Wars. The first game looks similar to a game like Dead Space, where you and 3 other stormtroopers (possibly co-op?) would've encountered dangerous alien beasts. It also appears that maybe there was some sort of mutation in the game that would change the appearance of characters similar to the infection in The Last of Us. The game wasn't given a title, but it almost reminds me of the 2004 game Star Wars: Republic Commandos, maybe it was a sequel to the squad-based FPS?
Carlos also dropped some concept art for another Star Wars game which looks more like what we're used to for a Star Wars game, despite still looking original and unique. It's hard to get an idea of what this game would've been, but it looks almost slightly medieval/inspired by feudal Japan as if it took place far in the past.
