Fan theory says Neo was never the ‘One’ in the Matrix

You might still be digesting the fact that the main character of the Karate Kid was actually the bully throughout the entire film, but there's something even more important for us to discuss — Neo was never the 'One' in The Matrix.

The real 'One' was the jerk Agent Smith and Keanu Reeves was just the 'Trojan Horse' for Smith to use in order to reload the Matrix. This might blow your mind (or it might not) one thing is for sure, you'll want to watch The Matrix after watching io9's theory video.

While this is labeled as a theory, the commentary tracks of the DVD comment on Smith and Neo being the Yin and Yang that need to fuse together to rebalance the Matrix… Making them both the 'One.'
