Bandai Namco announced today Battleline: Steel Warfare, a new free-to-play real-time tank strategy game due out on PC later this year.
"Battleline: Steel Warfare throws players into the belly of both classic and modern tanks with a new spin on tank strategy gaming," Namco says of the new game, which not only allows players to fight against one another online, but tacks on a meta-game in which you can conquer nations.
"Strategy is key in Battleline: Steel Warfare, and each victory contributes to a team’s dominance in the international theater of war," Namco adds. In the game's main mode, you'll battle back and forth in an effort to take objectives. The goal is to advance the battleline by overrunning your enemy's position. To help you achieve this goal, you'll be able to build Divisions, which is fancy way of saying guilds will be supported.
Battleline: Steel Warfare will offer a number of tanks from the modern era all the way back to WWI. You'll be able to customize your tanks by leveling up each tank's attributes and equipping different shells or gear which offer various effects. Building and capturing bases within conquered territories will also affect the battle, offering bonuses to allies.
A closed beta for Battleline: Steel Warfare is scheduled to begin in early November. You can register for a chance to participate in the war here.
