As expected, Sony San Diego Studios has something special planned for the Canadian version of MLB 15: The Show.
Revealed today, Russell Martin, of Canadian birth, will be on the cover of MLB 15: The Show in Canada. Martin played for Pittsburgh last season, helping the Pirates to a second straight playoff birth. In the offseason, he signed with the Toronto Blue Jays.
Statistically, last season was one of Martin's best at the plate. In 111 games and 379 at-bats, Martin hit for a .290 average with 11 home runs and 67 RBIs. It may not seem like a ton, but for a catcher that's pretty damn impressive. Perhaps more impressive though, is the bear he sports. The Pirates failed to make it out of the NL Wild Card game, losing to San Francisco. In that game, Martin went 1-for-4.
As for the rest of us, we'll have to settle for the back of Yasiel Puig every time we open up the case the play the game. Comparatively, Puig hit .296 with 16 home runs and 69 RBIs in 558 at bats during last year's regular season. In the postseason however, he hit just .250 with 1 RBI. He struck out seven times in a row over the first three games of the NLDS against the St. Louis Cardinals.
Sony San Diego Studios also revealed today MLB 15: The Show 10th Anniversary Edition, a special, slightly more expensive version of the game created to commemorate The Show's 10th anniversary on PlayStation.
