During E3 2015, Bethesda held a bunch of interviews talking about their upcoming games. The developers took these interviews and hid them from the public eye, only to slowly release them to the masses. They have been stringing along the Fallout 4 community for the past few days, so it's time they moved on to Dishonored 2.
Co-Creative Director Harvey Smith sat down with Gary Steinman (Bethesda's Global Content Lead) to talk about the new area that we would be infiltrating in Dishonored 2 and just what we are doing so far from our protagonists home city (Dunwall).
"We are trying to avoid spoilers," said Smith. "At the same time everybody's always curious. So let's just say there's an inciting incident in the beginning of the game and whether you're playing as Corvo or Emily, you are an outlaw and you have to flee dunwall tower. You have to head to the south to the southernmost city in the empire of the isles, Karnaca."
Dishonored 2 may be taking us to a whole new world, but that doesn't mean they will be leaving behind their old gameplay mechanics. The sequel will still support various play styles, "You can play the game very brutally or you can literally play the game without being seen or not killing anyone."
You might recall a rat problem in the first Dishonored game – the more bloodied bodies you left around, the more rat swarms there would be. The higher your chaos, the more ravenous vermin there were — it was a dynamic system.
Smith explained the Karnaca doesn't have a rat problem, but it still employs the same dynamic system… only this time with bugs. "Blood flies, nest in corpses. The more corpses there are the more blood flies there are. It's a dynamic system, if you kill somebody, leave the body and a blood fly finds it, they lay eggs in it and another swarm of bloodflies will hatch out of the body"
"You're encouraged to take the body and deal with it."
You heard him – hide your bodies. I want this game so bad.
