Internet addict cuts off hand to cure addiction

All that determination and they still reattached his hand

This is a new world we live in — a world of augmented reality headsets, a world where someone can blame Tomb Raider for stabbing someone, a world where in order to cure you addiction to the internet… you need to cut off your own hand. If there's anything we learned from the movie Saw, cutting off your own limb isn't easy, so we gotta hand it to 19-year old internet addict 'Little Wang' for his dedication.

Why the 19-year old internet addict decided to cut off his own hand instead of stepping away from the computer is, unfortunately, still a mystery. We may never know, likely because there will be no follow-up news on this in China.

Prior to starting his career in a shoddy back alley rehab addiction surgeon, Wang left a note for his mother to find explaining his absence:

Mum, I have gone to the hospital for a while. Don't worry, I will definitely come back this evening.

Wang then proceeded to the nearest public park, kitchen knife in hand, and cut off his left hand at the wrist. After the deed was done, he phoned in for a taxi to pick him up and take him to the hospital – where surgeons reattached his hand.

Awful pun aside, internet addiction is not a joke, no form of addiction is and Taiwan has laws that govern the amount of time a child can be in front a computer. Remember, if you are faced with a crippling addiction to the internet there are options — don't resort to removing limbs.
