Resident Evil Code: Veronica X Now Available

SUNNYVALE, Calif. – August 22, 2001 – Celebrating
five years of publishing Resident Evil products, Capcom® today announced the
release of Resident Evil Code: Veronica X with a playable demo of Devil May Cry,
as a special two DVD set for the PlayStation®2 computer entertainment system.
The most visually stunning chapter of the Resident Evil series, Resident Evil
Code: Veronica X and Devil May Cry are both designed by award-winning Capcom
Executive Producer, Shinji Mikami. Capcom’s entire blockbuster, multi-platform
Resident Evil series has sold more than 18 million units worldwide making the
franchise worth more than $600 million. A major motion picture based on the
franchise named Resident Evil: Ground Zero will make its theatrical debut next
year.

The interactive demo of Devil May Cry provides a
peak at one of the most anticipated games this Fall. Scheduled to release in
October, Devil May Cry tells the story of the descendent of a legendary
swordsman who wages a one-man battle against the demon world. Resident Evil
Code: Veronica X and Devil May Cry are both rated "M" for mature audiences by
the Entertainment Software Rating Board.

As an added bonus, the Resident Evil Code:
Veronica X five year anniversary edition offers consumers the opportunity to get
a copy of "Wesker’s Report" when they pre-order the game at participating
retailers, or online at capcom.com. Participating retailers include Best Buy,
Babbages / Game Stop andEB stores. This separately distributed DVD is a
retrospective look at the entire Resident Evil series narrated by the infamous
villain Albert Wesker. It includes never-before-seen footage that sheds new
light on the mysterious character, Wesker, and reveals insight into the Resident
Evil plot line.

Resident EvilCode: Veronica X will be supported
with a multi-million dollar marketing campaign that will include National
television advertising, promotional radio spots, print ads, customized POP
displays, and pre-sell activities. In addition, this title will be included in a
promotion with the Yahoo (www.games.yahoo.com) where consumers can win a Capcom
arcade.

Resident Evil Code: Veronica X is an enhanced
version of the chart-topping Sega Dreamcast™ blockbuster, Resident Evil Code:
Veronica. The game begins asClaire Redfield leaves Raccoon City for Europe,
headquarters of Umbrella
Corporation, in search of her brother Chris and to solve the mystery surrounding
Umbrella Corporation’s secretive activities. In her search she is captured and
sent to an isolated prison on a desolate Island. Resident Evil Code: Veronica X
focuses on battles between Chris and the enigmatic character, Wesker, and sheds
new insight into the ominous Resident Evil story line. Players will be
reacquainted with Chris Redfield’s ironwill and munitions expertise to seek the
truth behind the dreaded Umbrella biotoxins.

The additional DVD called the ‘Wesker’s Report’
also includes never before seen footage which is a narrated retrospective of the
entire Resident Evil series through the eyes of the infamous super villain,
Wesker. Consumers will uncover secret plots that explain various details of
Wesker’s involvement in the Resident Evil storyline. The second section is a
highlight video of the amazing footage from Resident Evil Code Veronica X,
setting up the storyline.

One of the many features that makes Code Veronica
X different from previous Resident Evil games is the Real World System (R.W.S.).
When Claire opens doors, solves puzzles, stores items or ammunition, they remain
in the same spot when playing the second half of the game as Chris. Players
control Claire at the beginning of the game and later assume the role of Chris
Redfield in their efforts to stop Umbrella’s devious plans

Resident Evil which quickly rose to the top of the charts and established the
