Rocksteady: Arkham City Will Not Feature Multiplayer

In an interview with IGN earlier today, Game Director for Rocksteady Studios Sefton Hill answered a number of questions regarding the Dark Knight’s upcoming adventure for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC. Aside from touching on the game’s enemies and Rocksteady’s goals for the game, Hill answered a question regarding a multiplayer component in the game and finally cleared up any and all speculation.

“There have been a number of rumors circulating about a multiplayer mode in Batman: Arkham City so let me start by saying, once and for all, that Batman: Arkham City is a single player only experience,” clarified Hill.

In an attempt to provide the most satisfying gameplay experience, Rocksteady decided to omit a multiplayer mode and focus solely on a single player campaign, investing all of their efforts into the game’s story mode.

“With the new game coming to the final stages,” furthered Hill, “I can honestly say it would not have been possible to deliver Arkham City the way we wanted to if we’d have added multiplayer.”

Looks like Robin is going to have to stay in the Batcave yet again. Maybe he can keep Alfred company now.
