NANCY DREW PC
GAME EARNS PRESTIGIOUS PARENTS’ CHOICE AWARD
Parents’ Choice
Foundation Presents Gold Award to Nancy Drew®: The
Final Scene
BELLEVUE,
Wash., June 25, 2002 – Her Interactive, a leading developer of interactive
entertainment for girls and women, today announced that its newest PC game,
Nancy Drew: The Final Scene, has received
the Parents’ Choice Gold Award. The award is sponsored by the Parents’
Choice Foundation, one of the most prestigious evaluators of children’s products
in the nation. The Final Scene is the fifth installment in Her
Interactive’s highly acclaimed Nancy Drew computer game series.
The Parents’ Choice Awards program recognizes
products that meet and exceed standards set by educators, scientists, performing
artists, librarians, parents, and children. The Parents’ Choice Awards
Committees search out and recommend products that help kids grow –
imaginatively, physically, morally and mentally—and that are fun, safe, and
socially sound. More than 1,500 products were entered across all categories.
The Final Scene was the only gold winner in the category of kids ages 10 to
18. This is the fourth time the Parents’ Choice Foundation has awarded the gold
medal – its highest honor — to Her Interactive’s titles. The company’s games
received one for its Nancy Drew computer games Nancy Drew: Stay Tuned for
Danger, Nancy Drew: Message in a Haunted Mansion, and Nancy Drew:
Treasure in the Royal Tower.
“We are very proud
of the fact that we make creative, interesting and challenging games that don’t
promote violence,” said Megan Gaiser, president of Her Interactive. “Receiving
top billing from the Parents’ Choice Foundation for our last four titles is
wonderful recognition of our dedication to providing positive interactive
experiences for kids.”
In The Final
Scene, players take the role of Nancy Drew as they race the clock to save a
friend’s life. Nancy is tagging along while her old high school pal Maya
researches a local historic theater slated for demolition, when she hears a
blood-curdling scream. Maya has been kidnapped, and players must extract clues
from the characters they meet, navigate the many hidden passageways of the
theater and solve more than 20 puzzles to rescue her.
Nancy Drew: The Final Scene is designed for players ages 10 and up,
carries an ESRB rating of “E” (Everyone) and is published by DreamCatcher. The
new PC game is available through retail outlets nationwide, such as Wal-Mart,
Toys R Us, Best Buy, and Electronics Boutique, as well as through Amazon,
Scholastic and many other online and catalog outlets.
