PizzaBot Dethrones Angry Birds, Claims Top Spot on App Store

All it took was a 12 year-old and some pizza to dethrone Angry Birds as the top paid app on the Mac App Store.  Twelve year-old Harry Moran who hails from Cork, Ireland has developed an app called PizzaBot which went on sale today on the Mac App Store for 79 cents.  It now tops the action game and new game genres, surpassing games like Call of Duty and Angry Birds.

According to Moran's blog post, Apple approved the final three publishing steps – which usually take several days – in a space of 10 minutes.

"The plot centers around an innocent slice of Pizza awakes in a kitchen infested by salami.  The slice of pizza dons cyborg implants and goes on a quest to battle these terrible invaders as… The PizzaBot!"

It doesn't sound like much, but users are anxious to battle the terrifying Salami in a quest to free the kitchen of the tyrants.

"I've just consulted with Apple, and I'm officially the [world's] youngest mac developer now!" Harry told Silicon Republic.
