Developer Landfall Games, the makers of destructive first-person platformer Clustertruck, took a stab at Superhot’s time mechanic in their contribution to the gaming industry’s pool of April Fools’ gags: Supertruck.
“Trucks move only when you move,” the Supertruck announcement video reads. In addition to time manipulation, Supertruck adopts Superhot’s sterile red-on-white aesthetic and iconic slogan: “Super. Truck. Super. Truck.”
“At tinyBuild we take great pride at staying ahead of the trends and do extensive market research into what’s super and hot with gamers,” publisher tinyBuild said in a blog post. “According to recent research, it’s not survival games or battle royales that’ll be hot in 2016—no, it’s trucks.
“Combine trucks with [the] latest trends of red shapes that move only when you move, and we are proud to announce the next blockbuster by tinyBuild and LandFall Games—Super Truck!”
I’d hazard a guess that tinyBuild’s market research made extensive use of a calendar. You can download Supertruck for free via tinyBuild's site.
