Reports of Game of Thrones movie ‘completely false,’ says George R.R. Martin

Game of Thrones creator shoots down movie rumors

Game of Thrones creator George R.R. Martin has shot down recent reports of a possible movie based on the fantasy drama series.

Martin was recently quoted by the UK's Daily Star as saying, “There will be a movie but I will not be involved. I have too much to do. That is something HBO and DB [Weiss] and David [Benioff] are dealing with. I have two more books to finish and I still have so much to do. The pressure is on. I am such a slow writer and the fans get upset that I don’t write faster.” What's more, a supposed "production insider" even speculated that the movie would act as a prequel to the Game of Thrones television series, possibly even focusing on Robert Baratheon’s uprising against The Mad King Aerys Targaryen.

However, Martin has denied all rumors and reports. Taking to his Livejournal, Martin called the reports "completely false."

"No one is working on any movie just now," he said. "And if there was a movie, it would not be about Robert's Rebellion."

On the bright side, he didn't say there would never be a movie — just that there's not one currently in the works. Who knows what could happen after season eight, which is when HBO's Game of Thrones is believed to end.
