Rumor: New World War 2 Call of Duty game leaks

Please don't be a hoax!

In 2007, Call of Duty made the jump from World War II to present day warfare with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. For a while, fans loved the change but quickly began to feel fatigued by the yearly franchise that seemed to not be making any significant innovations. The series quickly became hated by some of its biggest fans when it jumped into the far-flung future and started introducing weapons that shot lasers. For years, fans have petitioned to bring the series back to its roots and it looks like that may just happen if these leaks are to be believed.

Today on Reddit, a random anonymous user posted some artwork that indicated a World War II Call of Duty is on the way. The artwork appears to be a live action image of soldiers on a WW2 battlefield. Below the soldiers is the title for the game, Call of Duty: WWII. Of course, this could be an elaborate fake as this is around the time fake (and sometimes real) rumors for the new Call of Duty game begin to circulate each year.

It's entirely possible someone pulled an image off Google or a frame from a WW2 movie and slapped a fake Call of Duty logo on it. The name isn't entirely creative and the image isn't entirely unique so it could easily be a fake.

To try to up their validity, the user added that they were behind some of the leaks that happened last year with Infinity Warfare. It's hard to tell how true that is as they're Reddit username is now a series of random letters and numbers, but who knows?! Additionally, some steelbook cases with some WW2 images and the CoD:WWII logo popped up on but they could be faked similarly to the leaked art. You can view all the images above.

It should be noted that Activision hinted that the series will return to World War 2 (or somewhere probably in the 20th century) in an earnings call just a few weeks ago. Within the next month, Activision will probably reveal the game and have a full gameplay reveal at E3 as per usual.
