STUDIOS TO TAKE ELECTRONIC ENTERTAINMENT EXPO (E3) BY STORM WITH DIVERSE
LINE-UP

WA (May 9, 2000) – Sierra Studios(tm), a member of the Sierra On-Line
family, today announced a varied and exciting lineup of titles to be showcased
at the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) in Los Angeles in the South
Hall booth #1146 from May 11th-13th. Continuing the momentum established
by the unprecedented success and acclaim of its flagship title Half-Life,
and after amassing over 50 Game of the Year awards, Sierra Studios
will present a slate of seven groundbreaking titles on the show floor.
The
lineup includes Ground Control(tm), Homeworld: Cataclysm(tm), TRIBES 2(tm),
Arcanum: Of Steamworks and Magick Obscura(tm), NASCAR(r) Racing 4, Zeus(tm):
Master of Olympus(tm), and Empire Earth(tm).
"Our
2000 E3 line-up, more than ever before, reflects how we are continuing to
raise the bar for cutting-edge action, simulation, role-playing and strategy

SIERRA
STUDIOS E3 TITLE LINEUP:
GROUND
CONTROL
Ground
Control combines classic strategy elements with incredible 3-D technology
previously reserved for action games. It focuses its gameplay on tactics,
strategy, and the art of battle. The end result is greater realism, faster-paced
action, and an unparalleled player experience. Played out through
a variety of missions, players must take control of their customizable
squads of soldiers, tanks, hovercraft, aircraft, and other units,
as they fight for control of a distant world. In addition to the frenetic
single-player experience, Ground Control will offer both classic and
innovative multiplayer options for PC gamers everywhere.
HOMEWORLD:
CATACLYSM
Homeworld:
Cataclysm, created by Canadian-based Barking Dog Studios, in conjunction
with Relic Entertainment, is the next episode in the critically-acclaimed
Homeworld saga. This new stand-alone 3D real-time strategy
game extends Homeworld’s revolutionary gameplay with entirely new fleets
of ships and includes new research capabilities, fog-of-war functions,
interface enhancements, mothership modules, damage control, way points,
and much more. Homeworld: Cataclysm continues the saga from the original
Homeworld and introduces a new threat from a techno-organic entity known
as "The Beast." In addition to the 17 new single player missions,
Homeworld: Cataclysm will feature an improved
multiplayer mode that allows for
multiplayer games of up to eight players via Flipside.com.
TRIBES
2
Tribes
2 is the eagerly awaited sequel to the 1999 Online Action/Strategy Game
of the Year: Starsiege Tribes. The game is the ultimate in team-based action
and offers massive, breathtaking worlds for exploration and battle, as
well as unprecedented innovations in team-based, tactical gameplay. Tribes
2 offers an environment where brainpower and teamwork are the only true
keys to survival and victory. This experience is not limited to the online
players alone. Tribes 2 also adds a new single-player component that allows
players to fill their teams with computer-controlled teammates before heading
into the epic battles for which the Tribes franchise is known.
ARCANUM:
OF STEAMWORKS AND MAGICK OBSCURA
Arcanum:
Of Steamworks and Magick Obscura is a new role-playing game from Troika
Games, founded by key members from the development team behind the award-winning
role-playing game, Fallout(r)*. Named for the world it is set in,
Arcanum opens in an age where magic and technology coexist in uneasy balance.
An industrial revolution has swept across the fantasy realm of Arcanum,
and players must choose their path – magic or technology – in their quest
across the land.
NASCAR(r)
RACING 4
NASCAR(r)
Racing 4 is Papyrus’ next evolution of the award-winning racing series.
NASCAR(r) Racing 4 showcases a revolutionary new 3-D physics model, designed
by Papyrus founder, Dave Kaemmer, that adds even more realism to the
cars – with body rolls, the ability to become airborne, and tires that spin
and lock up. The new hardware-only 32-bit graphics engine allows for
real-time
reflection maps and shadows, higher frame rate, and smooth slow-motion
replay. The multiplayer capabilities have been improved as well, to
allow for remote server set-up and connection-quality monitoring. NASCAR(r)
Racing 4 will also include a pop-up help menu for car setup features
and a novice mode to make the game appealing to all audiences. In addition,
up to 32 drivers to race online with robust LAN and Internet support.
ZEUS:
MASTER OF OLYMPUS
From
Impressions Games, the development team that brought the world Pharaoh and
the Caesar(tm) series, comes Zeus: Master of Olympus, the sixth game in
their award-winning City Building Series. Zeus,
set in a mythological ancient Greece,
serves up a world filled with the likes of Hercules, Athena, Ares,
Medusa, the Minotaur, and many others. Players build and rule Greek city-states
while summoning heroes and gods to protect their land from monsters
and other Greek cities. Easy to learn, and quick to get in and out of,
Zeus promises to be the most fun city building game yet.
EMPIRE
EARTH
Empire
Earth is the debut title from Stainless Steel Studios, but not the first
for company founder Rick Goodman, who was lead designer for the best-selling
and critically acclaimed strategy game Age of Empires. In Empire
Earth, gamers attempt to dominate the Earth in land, sea, and air battles,
while advancing their civilizations through over 500,000 years of "history,"
from the Paleolithic age to the 24th century. In the game, players
construct countless war machines, including siege towers, trebuchets,
nuclear submarines, stealth bombers, and intelligent mechanized robots,
research more than 150 different technological advances, and wage war
against the computer or their friends via the Internet. Empire Earth lets
gamers carry out a night attack with a column of Patton’s tanks, command
French Grenadiers in the Napoleonic Wars, send Alexander the Great and
an army of phalanxes to raze a troublesome city-state, and much, much more.
