While it's confirmed that Sony is developing a new console, we haven't heard much about the prospects for a new controller. That appears to have changed according to a thread on NeoGAF. A user who goes by the name Kyoufu posted a set of screenshots directly from the patent (which you can see here) and they appear to show a slightly different design from the DualShock 4 we already know.
Here are the screenshots:
The biggest difference is the addition of two buttons located on the inside of the grips, a design that is very similar to the Xbox One Elite Controller. What's also apparent is that the Start and Options buttons are no longer in the space spot, as it looks like one has been moved below the D-Pad and the other below the Face Buttons.
There is no indication about what the new buttons actually are or if they aren't the new Start and Options buttons (though, I doubt it), so we will have to wait before we hear more. Either way, I just hope these things have better battery life.
