Mixed martial arts is particularly popular among men, who enjoy both watching and participating in the activity. It’s one of the fastest growing sports in the world, yet only a handful of aficionados know and follow female competitors on their paths to world titles.
Supremacy MMA is out to change that. The game will be the first to feature playable female fighters, as Felice “Lil Bulldog” Herrig and Michele “Diablita” Gutierrez have agreed to appear alongside a host of brawlers in Kung Fu Factory’s latest outing.
“Joining the roster of fighters for Supremacy MMA is definitely awesome,” said Gutierrez. “The game takes a totally different approach to MMA so I think it’s perfect that this is the game that features women for the first time.”
Herrig added, “Being one of the first women to represent MMA in a video game is a dream come true for me. This is our chance to finally show gamers that female fighters can hold their own.”
While the UFC Undisputed and EA Sports MMA titles take a professional, technical approach to mixed martial arts, Supremacy MMA puts players through the crushing amateur circuit as they battle their way to stardom. Forget sanctioned fights and squeaky-clean referees—the underground world of MMA thrives on action, whatever the situation may be.
Supremacy MMA is set for a June release on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 consoles.
