The Witcher 3: The Wild Hunt launched in May 2015 and since then went on to ship almost a record-breaking 10 million copies, CD Projekt Red's Adam Kasinki reportedly said last week as part of the company's latest earnings report.
This is a huge milestone for both the Witcher 3 and the studio, the overall sales of all the Witcher games add up to 20 million copies, which means the latest installment of the franchise sold half of the entire franchise sales.
"In these 20 million units sold, The Witcher 3 constitutes almost 10 million," Kicinski said during the briefing, according to toTwinfinite (via GameSpot).
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt won all sorts of awards in 2015, including the grandest of them all — Game of the Year. We still have one more expansion pack to get titled: Blood and Wine.
There has been plenty of speculation on what Blood and Wine will make available to players, but we do know that one of the developers at CD Projekt Red believes that the expansion is "better than the main game."
Details on the contents of Blood and Wine have not been officially revealed by CD Projekt Red, but rumors have suggested that the expansion will bring four new skills and three different endings. However, these rumors pegged a June release for the expansion.
