X-Men: Apocalypse finds its Nightcrawler

Who will play the fuzzy blue teleporter?

The actor playing devout Catholic Kurt Wagner, perhaps better recognized by the name Nightcrawler, in the upcoming X-Men: Apocalypse has been cast. Revealed through director Bryan Singer's Instagram, actor Kodi Smit-McPhee will be playing the role of the young Nightcrawler.

The 18-year-old, Australian actor is best known for his roles as Owen in "Let Me In," Norman Babcock in "ParaNorman," and Alexander in "Dawn of the Planet of the Apes." Now, he'll be known as the fuzzy blue X-Man with teleporting powers. Honestly, I don't know much about Smit-McPhee but his unique face shape certainly seems a perfect fit for Nightcrawlers demonic appearance.

While X-Men: Days of Future Past saw the original X-Men cast and the First Class cast merge in a time traveling story, the upcoming sequel, which will take place in the 1980s, leaves no room for the older cast. As such, expect to see a bunch of new faces representing your favorite X-Men. Last month, Singer revealed that Alexandra Shipp (House of Anubis) will play Storm, Sophie Turner (Sansa Stark in Game of Thrones) will play Jean Grey, and Tye Sheridan (Mud) will play Cyclops.

X-Men: Apocalypse stars Oscar Isaac as the film's main villain, and Singer is back as director. Other returning actors listed are Jennifer Lawrence, James McAvoy, Nicholas Hoult, Evan Peters and Michael Fassbender. It is rumored that Hugh Jackman will also be in the film as Wolverine.

X-Men: Apocalypse opens May 27, 2016.
