Thank you Bungie, for making me want to play Destiny again

Ah loot cave, I've had many dates with you when I really should have been having many dates with Destiny. You've emotionally drained me to the point where I didn't want to log on to play because I knew you'd taunt me with riches, but then reward me rags. Now you're dead. Silenced by your makers. And I can't wait to resume my date with Destiny again.

If you've been playing Destiny, chances are that you have either shot into the famed loot cave for hours, or at least heard about it from numerous sources as the best place to farm for gear.

Two weeks went on and Bungie didn't seem to address this. Were they OK with it? Surely they must know about it. For two weeks, I dreaded the time when I'd be done with my bounties, completed my Strikes, and feel obligated to stand in front of that damn loot cave to shoot for hours in hopes of getting better gear to drop. Sure, I got one good weapon which I actually use daily now, but other than that, it was just a sea of green with slight hints of blue in there.

By the very first shot into the cave, I already felt drained. I didn't want to do this. I hated doing this. Here I am, with five others, shooting into the dark abyss, watching as the damn cave fills up with colorful ammo drops, and occasionally an Engram. But the carrot on the stick was always there, the potential for a Legendary. After all, the game always announces when another player gets one, and it seemed to happen all the time. There were nights that went by, where I wanted to turn the game off without visiting the loot cave, but thought to myself "What if today's the day?" Sure enough, it never was. If I didn't spend at least an hour shooting into that cave, I would feel like I was wasting time, when that's exactly what I was doing performing that very task over and over again.

Today, Bungie dropped the bomb with a new patch, removing said loot cave. I knew the internet was going to rage. Silently, I rejoiced. The very thing that drove me to insanity every day was now no longer looming over me. After my daily bounties are done, I'll be able to get a few Strikes in, perhaps a Crucible match or two, and then shut the game off, and feel good about my progress.

It's not like Bungie is straight up removing the cave without fixing the loot system. They've acknowledged that the drop rate sucks and that the Cryptarch is a giant asshole, so hopefully by playing the game normally, the way it's supposed to, we'll feel rewarded without going insane by shooting into that damn…black…cave.
